Take Action

With American democracy in decline, Congress unable to act even during times of crisis, and a pivotal election approaching in November 2022, the country is desperately in need of new leadership and alternative solutions.

The principle of federalism requires the states to serve the People’s interests when the federal government cannot, or will not. We are now beginning to see Blue state governors step into this vacuum of leadership to defend birth control/abortion, public safety (freedom from gun violence), gay marriage, and other important rights under constant attack by the corrupted right wing of the Supreme Court. If we are to preserve American democracy and expand it, the states must continue to point us forward.

If you are a blue state resident, please contact your governor through one of the channels below and give him/her the following message (edited to your liking):

As your constituent, I am deeply concerned about the radical rulings being issued by the corrupted right wing of the Supreme Court and Congress’ total inability to fill the gap by protecting fundamental rights. I would like to see you speaking out more about the sanctity of democracy and the steps our state must take to ensure it is preserved and expanded for future generations. I would also like to see you reaching out to other friendly governors to discuss these issues; similar to how a group of states’ attorney general met in June 2022 to strategize about emergency response to the Supreme Court’s repeal of Roe v. Wade. Finally, please lead a new campaign to rewrite our state constitution to make it even more democratic and egalitarian. New provisions could include a guaranteed right to vote; a right to public safety (freedom from gun violence); environmental protections; a total ban on the use of private money in political campaigns; and explicit guarantees for racial equality, women’s reproductive rights, and gay marriage. Please be a leader for our state and the principle of democracy. If future generations are to live free, then it must start at the state level, where we still have the power to innovate, reform, and make change. I will be watching your actions and hope to see our state become a beacon of democracy for the rest of the world!
